Job description

Extruder Operator Job Summary:

Our custom manufacturing firm makes the most advanced wire and cable in the world. We design and manufacture wire and cable for NASA and a wide variety of high techcompanies who make cutting edge medical, military, aeronautic, sensor and communication devices. We are looking for a self-motivated Machine Operator who enjoys the challenge of working in a custom manufacturing environment with the opportunity set-up and run several different machines every day. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as a collaborative team member. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong mechanical skills, a desire to learn and develop new manufacturing skills, have some experience in plastics extrusion, pay strong attention to detail, and is committed to continuous improvement, 5S and LEAN principles.

Extruder Operator Responsibilities and Duties:

Ø Carry out production, inspection, and machine operation duties

Ø Set up machines and ensure all materials are readily available

Ø Effectively monitor production equipment

Ø Participate in daily team meetings

Ø Assist manufacturing personnel from other departments

Ø Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management

Ø Interface with QA for workmanship and quality requirements

Ø Maintain and continuously improve a safe and clean work space

Ø Continuously improve manufacturing processes

Ø Follow established safety rules and regulations

Machine Operator Qualifications and Skills:

Ø Experience as an machine Operator

Ø Good mechanical skills

Ø Knowledge of the proper functions of Extruders, Extruder Tooling, Payoffs, Accumulators, and Take ups

Ø Knowledge of different types of conductors

Ø Knowledge of different types of polymers

Ø Ability to accurately read Specifications/Drawings

Ø Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs and stand for an eight-hour work shift

Ø Commitment to Continuous Improvement, Quality, Safety, 5S, and LEAN.

Ø Team-oriented and self-directed

Ø Problem solving skills

Ø Background check required
