Job description

The M&S Software Integration Engineer will support the mission of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Office to test the Missile Defense System (MDS) in a distributed Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation environment, including MDS Ground Test (GT) events and MDS Flight Test support (pre-mission risk reduction, mission execution team training, and post-flight reconstruction), as well as M&S development and test support to other Department of Defense (DoD) Partners.
Responsibilities and areas of support include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Support the integration, testing, and operation of HWIL simulation environments for MDS Ground Tests, Flight Tests, and continuous integration activities.
  • Conduct installation, configuration, checkout, and testing of Objective Simulation Framework (OSF) systems in accordance with program requirements.
  • Analyze HWIL architecture performance and assist in identifying and resolving hardware/software integration issues.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot network traffic and connections
  • Responsible for installing and configuring M&S Framework in compliance with program instructions, ensuring functionality between MDA elements, and documenting configurations and results within the government lab
  • Execute test scenarios, including threat modeling and simulation for mission-specific requirements.
  • Document system configurations, test procedures, and results, and generate reports to support test events and analysis.
  • Adhere to current processes and procedures, provide status as requested, and collaborate with team members in person and electronically
  • Collaborate with teams and support mission planning, execution, and post-event analysis for ground and flight test activities, including pre-mission risk reduction and post-flight reconstruction.

Desired qualifications include:
  • System Administration experience and certifications such as Security+ and/or Linux+ are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with operating and managing containerized applications in a cloud-based environment
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs or similar defense systems. Familiarity with Objective Simulation Framework (OSF) or similar simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with GMD System Trainer (GST), with BCM - Ballistic Missile Defense Sytem (BMDS) Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Model, and with TGx - Threat Generator External.
  • Software testing background with experience in the development of software test plans, test procedures, and test reports
  • Prior Test and Evaluation (T&E) experience supporting Pre-Flight/Ground Testing supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA)

Travel:
  • Travel: This role requires the ability to travel up to 25-30% to support mission-critical events and meetings.
  • Work Schedule: Occasional night and weekend work is expected to meet critical testing schedules and event-driven timelines.

Education:
  • BS in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited university
  • 5-7 years' experience

Clearance
  • SECRET clearance/ TS Preferred
  • Position requires that candidate possesses a final and active SECRET security clearance and is able to maintain the clearance.

Work Location
  • Huntsville, AL Redstone Arsenal- On-site
  • Tasks will primarily be performed in the local government facility but may also require support in various other CONUS and OCONUS locations.
