Job Description:
Overview
The Director of Engineering at Rogue Fitness is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring that our manufacturing and distribution operations run with maximum safety and efficiency. This position focuses on all aspects of operational engineering, excluding product design (e.g., facility layouts, process optimization, equipment troubleshooting). Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple facets of manufacturing simultaneously while scaling and maintaining our existing infrastructure.
The Director of Engineering is a full-time, on-site position at our 5th Avenue campus in Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Engineering team, setting priorities that align with company goals for safety, quality, throughput, cost reduction, and operational scalability. Examples include:
    • Procure quotes and equipment from vendors to eliminate waste and improve bottom-line performance
    • Investigate quality misses, ensure quality compliance, and assist in Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventive Action
    • Implement new manufacturing technologies and ensure proper deployment in the Manufacturing Plant and Distribution Warehouse
  • Provide expert recommendations to the business regarding strategic improvements in Manufacturing Plant and Warehouse safety, quality, efficiency, and capacity
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision making
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations (OSHA), environmental standards, and industry best practices
  • Assess organizational engineering needs, and actively identify, hire, manage, and develop a high-performing Engineering team. This includes providing structured training and mentoring in the real-world application of core engineering principles
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Engineering processes to support the company's aggressive growth trajectory and ensure consistent execution
  • Establish, manage, and own all metrics for the Engineering organization
  • Partner effectively with departments such as Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing to resolve systemic operational issues and continuously elevate Manufacturing and Distribution performance

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of engineering management experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field required; Master's or MBA preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and capacity in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical expertise in areas such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, automation and robotics integration, metal fabrication and finishing processes, and capital project management
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; comfortable presenting to and working closely with executive leadership
