Keysy is a Utah-based startup modernizing the pre-owned vehicle shopping experience. Offering a true omnichannel shopping solution through its two-sided marketplace, Keysy bundles the best elements of online and in-person car buying for an unmatched experience. Keysy is founded and led by experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts and backed by Philo Ventures, a Utah-based venture studio. Keysy is looking for a strategic Head of Engineering to build and lead a world-class software development team at Keysy. This will be an exciting and dynamic role, critical to the success of Keysy, with the opportunity for significant personal upside associated with the startup’s success.

The Role:
This role is a strategic early hire for Keysy, intended to accelerate Keysy’s pace of product development. The Head of Engineering will provide technical leadership with oversight of engineering and design resources, critical input into company strategy, and the responsibility for bringing technical foresight into all that we do. In addition to a track record of building robust products from the ground up, the successful candidate will have a passion for creating value through entrepreneurial efforts, creative problem solving, strategic thinking extending beyond the traditional limits of the engineering purview, and the ability to communicate effectively to influence executive decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as player-coach, leading small and nimble engineering team in building groundbreaking products
  • Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to Keysy leadership, creating value wherever and however possible
  • Ensure implementation of best practices and processes facilitating efficient feature development, dev-ops, QA, etc.
  • Recruit, train, and manage engineering team
  • Help shape the strategic direction of the company
  • Provide technical and career mentorship for team members
Qualifications & Capabilities:
  • Engineering management experience in a high-growth startup or mid-sized product-focused tech company
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering well-engineered products
  • Passion for early-stage product and company development
  • Strong capabilities in both front-end and back-end development
  • Understanding of engineering and team management best practices, and ability to implement and scale such appropriate to the needs of early and growth-stage entities
  • Enthusiasm for team building and mentoring
  • Bias for action and comfort in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn the existing tech stack: React, Typescript, Next.js, PostgreSQL
  • Experience developing products within the automotive industry or other financially complex transaction scenarios
