Job description

Mid-States Steel Corporation is a 100% employee owned company seeking a structural steel estimator. Individual will be responsible to cultivate sales leads from General Contractors and other resources, answer bid requests, do take-off for shop labor, materials, out sourcing and build rapport with customers. Experience in construction, estimating, shop drawings, teambuilding and customer relations will support estimating activities. Hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. Work duties take place on site with no work from home options available.

Qualification Preferences:

  1. to read blue prints comprehensibly

  2. to visualize constantly in three dimensions

  3. to take off isometrically when necessary

  4. to take off only the pertaining features

  5. to include every item, never leaving anything out

  6. to be orderly and accurate

  7. to present a clean, comprehensive takeoff

  8. to show plans, cuts, elevations and schedules until the subject is utterly exhausted
