Job description

Harris Miller Miller & Hanson Inc. (HMMH), a leader in transportation environmental consulting, seeks aStaffConsultant to join our growing Aviation Environmental & Sustainability Group. This is a hybrid position out of our Burlington, MA office.ย 

You will contribute to noise and air quality studies, sustainability planning, environmental impact mitigation, regulatory compliance, and public engagement for airport projects worldwide. HMMH, founded in 1981, has a proventrack recordof delivering expert environmental solutions to over 200 airports.ย 

Position Responsibilities:ย 

  • Conduct acoustical testing, field measurements, data analysis, and assist in technical reporting for acoustics-related projects.ย 
  • Support project execution by leading tasks within larger projects under the guidance of Project Managers or senior consultants.ย 
  • Assist with acoustical modeling and quality control activities, including support for airport sound insulation and related programs.ย 
  • Participate in outdoor fieldwork nationwide, with travel up to two weeks monthly or every other month.ย 
  • Assist in developing and delivering presentations to clients or internal audiences.ย 
  • Collaborate with team members and subconsultants to support task orders, proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting efforts.ย 
  • Stay informed on industry practices and begin participating in relevant professional societies or conferences.ย 
  • Clearly document work and contribute to the preparation of reports, letters, and other deliverables.ย 
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 

Minimum Requirements:ย 

  • 2-6 years of relevant experience.ย 
  • BS, BA, or MS in a technical field (e.g., acoustics, aerospace, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline).ย 
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with sound or measurement equipment in field or lab settings.ย 
  • Ability to complete tasks with attention to detail and minimal oversight.ย 
  • Comfortable working in the field and interacting with clients or the public.ย 
  • Proficiency in standard software tools; ability to learn industry-specific modeling and data tools.ย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Familiarity with acoustic and/or aviation terminology.ย 
  • Some consulting experience or exposure to client-driven work.ย 
  • Experience or coursework in GIS, SQL, Python, AEDT, or NOISEMAP.ย 
  • Demonstrated interest in client engagement and technical problem solving.ย 
  • Strong documentation and organization skills.ย 

Physical Requirements:ย 

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., overhead, regularly while conducting field measurementsย 
  • Frequent travel within the local area is required, with occasional trips to other parts of the United States.ย 
  • This position requires working in the field outside with multiple weather elements.ย
