Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Plant Location: Bath, PA

About the Role:

Keystone Cement Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to plan, schedule, and execute daily maintenance work while supervising and supporting hourly union Millwrights to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and minimum downtime of plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and administer safety in all areas of the position’s responsibility. Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations, counsel and discipline employees for non-compliance, conduct safety topic meetings and task training, perform inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary. Identify and correct safety hazards.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute daily maintenance work. Control material flow, schedule work assignments, and maintain time sheets for cost accounting daily. Research and order parts and materials for all jobs and projects not currently in inventory.
  • Provide the necessary maintenance and technical support to Millwrights to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and minimum downtime of plant operations.
  • Support and motivate the workforce to keep a productive team operating. Conduct performance evaluations and propose discipline or other actions. Administer technical training for the mechanical department to ensure quality performance in all areas of responsibility. Identify additional training needs and provide training and development opportunities.
  • Perform daily maintenance inspections on critical pieces of equipment.
  • Assist maintenance manager in planning of major outages and all phases of maintenance in area of responsibility. Recommend and research cost savings projects, major jobs, and capital appropriations for area of responsibility. This includes the initial budget of labor and costs for these projects. Work with maintenance manager in analyzing and forecasting of maintenance budget.
  • Develop monthly reports on equipment status and work accomplished.
  • Effectively administer and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement, issue discipline according to Keystone’s Code of Conduct. Ensure that all maintenance employees understand and follow company policies, safety rules, environmental compliance and labor agreements.
  • Assume weekend call responsibility in accordance with the weekend call schedule and fill in during vacation, illness, or any other unforeseen event for the Maintenance Department, as requested.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree from Technical School preferred. Consideration will be given to appropriate work experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Five years’ experience working with heavy industrial equipment including equipment failure troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and delegation abilities.
  • Effectively interact and lead in a team environment.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standards for industrial workplace safety, environmental compliance, dependability, and professional workmanship is essential.
  • Knowledge of cement facilities and equipment preferred.
  • Experience supervising under a bargaining unit contract preferred.
  • Physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps, ladders, and physical exertion at high elevations is required.
  • Wear the required MSHA safety equipment, including respirator (when needed).
  • Work in dusty, noisy, high temperature environment in all types of weather conditions.
