Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant to support our Brazilian operations from our U.S. headquarters. This role will be responsible for managing the accounting activities of our Brazil-based business, ensuring compliance with Brazilian accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements while serving as the primary financial liaison between our U.S. leadership team and our operations in Brazil.

The ideal candidate is fluent in Portuguese and English, has a strong understanding of Brazilian accounting principles (CPC/BR GAAP), Brazilian tax requirements, and experience working with international organizations. This position will work closely with external accounting firms, tax advisors, financial institutions, and operational teams in Brazil to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting activities for the company's Brazilian operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Brazilian accounting standards (CPC/BR GAAP) and all applicable federal, state, and municipal tax regulations.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings for the Brazilian entity.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports for company leadership.
  • Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial transactions for the Brazilian operation.
  • Ensure accurate recording of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory transactions.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Stay current on changes in Brazilian accounting regulations, tax legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably supporting Brazilian companies or subsidiaries.
  • Strong knowledge of Brazilian accounting standards (CPC/BR GAAP).
  • Working knowledge of Brazilian tax regulations, including indirect taxes and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Brazilian CPA designation (CRC) or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience supporting multinational organizations with operations in Brazil.
  • Familiarity with:
    • SPED Fiscal and SPED Contabil
    • ECD and ECF
    • NF-e (Nota Fiscal Eletronica)
    • ICMS, IPI, ISS, PIS, and COFINS
