Some roles may be found at archery ranges, sporting goods stores, or within competitive sports teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in archery, and why are they important?

To excel in an Archery Instructor or Archery Coach role, candidates typically need expertise in archery techniques, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance, often complemented by coaching certifications from organizations such as USA Archery. Archery Instructors often encounter challenges such as maintaining high safety standards, adapting teaching techniques to different age groups and skill levels, and keeping students motivated through plateaus in progress. We're looking for an instructor who can provide a fun and educational experience while ensuring all participants learn proper form, equipment use, and safety practices. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to strengthen our community, beginning with you.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Lead structured 6-week archery classes with a focus on beginner skill development.

  4. Create a fun, respectful, and confidence-building environment for all participants.
  5. Modify instruction based on student age and experience to ensure skill progression.
  6. Communicate clearly with parents and guardians regarding safety, progress, and expectations.
  7. Promote YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions.
  8. Maintain archery equipment and range to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the youth program.

  • Experience working with children in a coaching, education, or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to plan and lead fun, educational archery sessions for all ability levels.
