Job description

The School Leadership Internship Supervisor serves as the faculty mentor to all assigned student interns. In addition to the mentoring function, the Internship Supervisor assures that all required student competencies are met and that all written coursework is completed in a manner that reflects the highest standards of our profession. Ultimately the Internship Supervisor will provide the student with a final course grade that is based upon all written coursework as well as the assessment of the site supervisor (e.g. building principal, superintendent, or designee).


  • Reviews the candidate’s internship agreement in order suggest additional strategies for meeting the required competencies.
  • Reviews and assesses all written assignments including weekly internship logs, reflection journals, action research projects, and case studies.
  • Provides interns with both written and oral feedback relative to the attainment of course competencies.
  • Meets on-site with the intern and site supervisor as needed to review the candidate’s progress in meeting the objectives of the internship agreement.
  • Meets with the intern as needed via electronic means (e.g. Zoom) to provide feedback and counsel and to offer the intern constructive criticism when needed.
  • Alerts the School Leadership Department Chair when and if there are major problems with the internship plan or intern performance.

  • Master’s Degree
  • Appropriate New York State administrative certification: SBL and SDL
  • Five or more years of experience as a school/school district administrator
