Job description

The Westbrook School Department is seeking a Food Service Helper at Congin Elementary School. The Food Service Helper works  3 hours/day, typically 7 AM to 10 AM, in the Congin Kitchen with 2 cooks.   The position involves preparing items for breakfast & lunch as well as packaging for our catered meal program.

About the School

Congin School is a warm and welcoming PK-4 school community located in Westbrook, Maine. At Congin, we celebrate academic growth in our students, embrace multiculturalism and work hard to ensure our students are also developing both socially and emotionally. Congin School is proud to be a BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) school where all staff collaborate to ensure every student is recognized, heard and thriving within our school community. Our curriculum includes the Units of Study for literacy and Zearn for math, both of which allow for differentiation in the classroom. At Congin, we have multiple supports in place that allow students to access their learning in ways that match their individual needs and preferred learning styles. We engage in school wide initiatives and activities that promote a true sense of belonging for our students and staff and we make every effort to demonstrate that each member of our school family knows they are safe and welcome to be themselves. The kitchen is a full commercial grade kitchen that is open to the cafeteria area.  The proximity to the Westbrook Community Center allows this kitchen to prepare the afterschool meals for the Westbrook Learns program.  We also satillite meals to a private educational program in Westbrook.
