Job Summary:
The Youth Activities Counselor is responsible for facilitating, and supervising drop-In care, youth programs and family-friendly events while ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all participants. This role creates a fun, engaging, and welcoming environment for children through a variety of organized activities while providing exceptional service to members and their families. The work schedule will vary based on drop-in hours, member and Holiday events. Weekend availability is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work as directed to support the mission and values of Atlanta Athletic Club
- Leads and coordinates learning based activities with children, i.e. arts, crafts, games, storytelling, etc.
- Implement safety procedures as instructed by supervisor
- Completes accident/incident reports related to child injuries and behavior
- Assists with proper set up and breakdown of childrenโs activities and events
- Maintains clean environment for children and members
- Attentiveness with diaper changing and empathy for children
- Builds a positive dynamic between staff, children, and parents
- Interacts with all members, guests, peers, and supervisors in a professional manner
- Presents kids first mentality while making safety their top priority
- Assist in club wide events and implementing child friendly activities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Exhibit outgoing, professional personality
- Be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Able to build and maintain relationships with team members
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to actively participate in games and recreational activities
- Exceptional customer service skills
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in high school, high school diploma or equivalent
- One yearโs minimum experience in childcare or youth activities
- Available to work at least three shifts per week.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (Adult, Child, and Infant) is preferred. Certification training will be provided upon hire.
