During certain times of the year, the number of children and teenagers on board can be significant. The Youth Center is heavily utilized during these busy sailing periods, with hundreds of children participating in various activities.
As a Youth Staff FLEX, you will be responsible for entertaining young passengers and helping to make their cruise an unforgettable experience. You  will be expected to provide supervision and actively participate in all youth events and activities
Youth Staff FLEX are typically assigned to work with children of varying ages at the discretion of the Youth Manager and their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Actively supervise children and maintain a safe and secure center.
  • Engage with parents and children, assist with program inquiries, and provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Organize and lead activities, such as games, icebreakers, parties, sports, arts and crafts. 
  • Conduct sign in/out, facilitate meal service, prepare supplies and equipment for activities, conduct clean up at completion. 
  • Supervise groups of children in a venue outside of the Youth Center. 
  • Encourage participation in activities and actively respond to guest needs. 
  • Work on select port days as assigned by the Youth Manager.
  • Assist the Youth Manager plan and prepare activity schedules for all age groups.

Note: This is a seasonal job opportunity and successful candidates will be expected to be on call and deployed seasonally based on projected guest counts. Employment assignments range from one to six weeks and are not always guaranteed.
  • Formal education or credential in education, recreation, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of two years previous work experience in a youth-related field is required; this may include learning, recreation, teaching or similar.
  • Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
  • Understanding of the foundation of guest service; ability and willingness to deliver outstanding service to our guests.
  • Motivation to excel in all aspects of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality. 
  • Ability to continuously surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience.
  • Commitment to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
