Job description

DEPARTMENT: Northern Kentucky Corps

REPORTS TO: Corps Officers

SUPERVISES: N/A

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: 35 to 40hrs per week (Hours Vary according to need)  

FUNCTION: To provide ministry support, assist in bridging children and families from community and other corps programs into ministry programs. Run enriching youth ministry programs.


DUTIES:

 

  • Teach/ Coordinate Youth Sunday School
  • Sunday Program Participation as assigned (Children’s Five, Prayer, Preaching, Program Planning, etc.)
  • Support Outreach/ Evangelistic opportunities
  • Oversee and run Corps Children’s programs.
  • Visitation and Mentoring of Youth
  • Assists with Teen Discipleship activities and Bible Study
  • Collect and report statistic to corps officer.
  • Attend staff training (KeepSAfe)
  • Adhere to Kentucky State Licensing Regulations
  • Communicate with After School Program Director to schedule and coordinate programs, including daily activity schedules, group outings and program guidelines to prevent infringement/overlap and upkeep of licensing guidelines.
  • Supervision of assigned group, including meals, recreation times and other scheduled activities.
  • Plan and direct activities as needed (Life & Character Building, Crafts, Structured/Unstructured Gym Recreation)
  • Supervising volunteers as necessary
  • Assist with set up and cleanup of program areas (meals, Before/After Program daily)
  • Each week, provide a list of needed supplies to Corps officer.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
  • Supports Christmas activities as needed.
  • Supports fundraising activities as needed.
  • Provides good stewardship to building money, resources, and equipment.
  • Assisting Corps Officers/administrators as necessary

MINIMTIM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma required
  • Valid drivers license
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience in elementary education preferred
  • Must be safety conscious
  • Must adhere to NKY Health Department mandates and regulations as it pertains to COVID 19
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly; English preferred
  • Must have the ability to work and relate well with individuals who possess varying needs
  • Must be able to handle difficult situation/confrontations in a professional manner
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army
