Organization: The Beautywell Project

Location: Hybrid

(Office: 1821 University Ave. W. Ste. #464-28, St. Paul, MN 55104)

Status: Part-time (30 hours per week)

Compensation: $29 per hour

Benefits: 3 weeks of paid time off

The Beautywell Project is a non-profit organization founded to address the challenges posed by colorism, skin-lightening practices, and chemical exposures prevalent in communities. With a mission to promote wellness among individuals, families, and communities, the organization uses education, research, empowerment, and advocacy to drive policy and systems change. The Beautywell Project works to build a healthier future by encouraging communities to embrace their natural beauty and well-being.


Job Summary

As a Program Manager, you will play a central role in our organization by leading high-impact public health initiatives. This position is responsible for managing several distinct programs aimed at addressing colorism, skin-lightening practice and chemical exposures. You will oversee youth leadership campaigns, coordinate professional training for community advocates, and manage ethnic media partnerships. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Director to achieve program goals and maintain a positive, professional work environment.


Responsibilities

● Youth Leadership & Social Media Management:

○ Coordinate a two-part social media strategy leveraging youth ambassadors and influencers to engage young people in Minnesota.

○ Oversee the production of 40 influencer videos and 40 digital animations focusing on self-acceptance and chemical exposure risks.

○ Manage monthly campaigns to achieve 100,000+ total impressions and ensure resources are distributed in at least six languages.


● Advocate Training (Salon Professionals):

○ Execute a minimum of 10 training sessions certifying 150 salon professionals serving

Somali, Hmong, and Latino, and other communities.

○ Train professionals to identify products containing banned chemicals such as mercury

and hydroquinone, and to provide effective client counseling to counter colorism and toxic beauty products.


● Media Partnership & Training:

○ Establish and manage a sustainable, multilingual partnership network to train 60 ethnic

media professionals across four cohorts.

○ Support the generation of 60+ media placements across partner outlets (radio, print,

and video) to communicate health risks.


● Systemic Change & Stakeholder Engagement:

○ Organize and execute a capstone Stakeholder Conference by Spring 2027 for 100+

key attendees, including healthcare professionals and researchers.

○ Lead the development of a Stakeholder Roadmap Document featuring five specific

policy recommendations.


● Administration & Compliance:

○ Ensure all digital materials created and shared externally comply with the State of

Minnesota’s Digital Accessibility Standards.

○ Prepare and submit regular progress reports and itemized invoices.

○ Maintain updated leadership and manager contact information on the organization’s

website.


Qualifications

● Education: Bachelor’s Degree completed.

● Experience: Prior experience in program management and working with diverse

populations.

● Leadership: Strong leadership skills to guide community advocates and manage complex project deliverables.

● Knowledge: Understanding of public health principles, colorism, and the health impacts of chemical exposures.

● Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with community partners,

media professionals, and policy stakeholders.
