OVERVIEW
Job Title:Yoga Instructor
Pay: $16.50 per hour
Hours: TBD
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Behavior Change Specialist the Certified Yoga Instructor is responsible for providing basic introductory or beginning level yoga classes to promote student health and well-being and introduce students to the practice of yoga.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be well prepared for class; develop and plan yoga classes before each yoga session.
  • Lead classes according to assigned times, arrive early to prepare room, and create a welcoming space.
  • Educate and guide students through yoga postures with proper alignment, breathing practices, and mindfulness.
  • Monitor the class and offer modifications to assure the safety of participants and encourage self-care.
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Transport, safeguard, clean, and maintain yoga supplies
  • Track attendance

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate of completion from yoga teacher training program
  • Previous group yoga teaching experience with strong sequencing skills
  • Mindful and breath centered yoga and meditation experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about yoga philosophy, the therapeutic aspects of yoga, proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Able to complete responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and professionalism

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
