Job description

To further the purposes of the YMCA by building relationships and developing character in all YMCA constituents. Under the guidance and supervision of the Fitness and Sports Director, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading both beginning and experienced exercises in safe and effective group classes. The goal of this program is to assist members in making a healthy lifestyle change, to build self-esteem, and to encourage consistency. The role of the Group Exercise Instructor is to assist and inspire members as they participate in Group Exercise classes. The Group Exercise Instructor is expected to demonstrate a professional manner at all times when in the facility, including personal time spent in the facility. We are seeking instructors for cycle, yoga, Silver Sneakers, water aerobics, and other fun and exciting classes!

  1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
  2. Certification in areas of expertise.
  3. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.
