We are currently looking for a Full-Time Hostler in our Transportation Yard Maintenance Department!! The Hostler is responsible for executing the physical movement of tractor/trailers to correct yard positions.


Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:


  • Uses the Earp Distribution Yard Management System (YMS) to accelerate movement in real time with focus on timely information provided by Dispatch, Dock, Yard and Garage Teams.
  • Collaborates with the Day Operations Manager (Router) to set up tractor/trailer assignments according to the daily routing schedule.
  • Must have thorough understanding of smooth flow and how their job interfaces and collaborates with other Earp Distribution Departments to achieve the goal of spotting optimization.
  • Fuel and inspect tractors and trailers as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior experience as a Hostler or Valid Class A CDL
  • Must be able to text and respond to YMS and be able to operate a 2-Way Radio
  • Understanding of Pre and Post Trip procedures
  • Operate tractor/trailer and pallet jack
  • Operate a "yard buggy"
  • Ability to safely move equipment within the truck yard to include backing
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Work accurately at a rapid pace


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, carry, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and use hands and fingers to grasp and feel. The employee may be required to work with hands and arms extended overhead. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Hostler will primarily work outdoors while servicing fleet and is often exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures.
