Job description

The YMS Step Team Assistant Coach will supervise students during practices and competitions. The Coach will supervise students in planning and executing events throughout the year. The Coach will assist the head coach in program operations.

  • Develops and teaches choreography for a variety of team performances
  • Travel with team to competitions and events
  • Develops ideas for theme, costumes, and makeup
  • Manage music and light effects for competitions and performances
  • Assist with attendance records for team practices and events
  • Recruits student participants with a tryout in late spring/early fall in order to keep an active team
  • Supervises the use of facilities during activities and events in the absence of head coach
  • Confirms the security of the facilities in the absence of the head coach
  • Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released
  • Promotes and publicizes team events and fundraisers
  • Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
  • Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the team
  • Completes all training and certification required by the District
  • Other duties as required

 
SKILLS: Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE: Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed.
Salary Range: Assistant Coach Level 7  $3,600- $6,032 based on experience
