Job description

WHY JOIN ALO?
Mindful movement. It's at the core of why we do what we do at ALO-it's our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That's the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.
OVERVIEW
The Raw Materials Yarn Technologist is responsible for leading Tier 3 yarn engineering and validation, leading support of Alo's yarn platforms. This role drives yarn selection, technical alignment, and supplier execution across yarn partners, ensuring yarn performance is repeatable, scalable, and aligned with Alo's durability and aesthetic standards.
REPSONSIBILITIES
  • Yarn Development: Lead Tier 3 yarn development and execution for textile programs, ensuring yarn selections align to overall garment performance and appearance standards.
  • Tier 3 Yarn Engineering & Specification Control: Develop and maintain yarn specifications. Ensure yarn parameters are documented clearly and scalable for bulk readiness.
  • Yarn Validation & Testing Coordination: Coordinate required testing and validation for Tier 3 yarns and confirm alignment to intended end use. Interpret results and drive refinements tied to performance outcomes.
  • Supplier Management (Tier 3): Partner directly with, fiber producers & yarn suppliers to align on technical execution, quality standards, and process controls. Drive yarn-level improvements and establish repeatable standards that reduce variation and risk at bulk.
  • Cross-Platform Tier 3 Support: Provide Tier 3 yarn expertise to support broader fabric developments as needed, including yarn systems used in performance knits and woven structures. Partner with Tier 2 mills to ensure yarn-to-fabric translation is stable and consistent.
  • Issue Resolution & Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot recurring fabric and garment issues that trace back to yarn inputs. Drive corrective actions with suppliers and maintain clear documentation of conclusions.
  • Documentation & Data Integrity: Own yarn related documentation and data integrity including yarn specification sheets, testing records, and yarn inputs required. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of materials progressing toward bulk readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years in yarn engineering, yarn development, or Tier 3 raw materials roles, with strong exposure to yarn systems and knit performance requirements.
  • Expertise in yarn architecture (spun and filament), fiber selection, and performance translation into knit structures.
  • Experience working directly with Tier 3 suppliers (fiber producers, yarn spinners) and partnering with Tier 2 mills and Tier 1 knitters to support fabric execution.
  • Strong understanding of quality and consistency controls for yarn performance.
  • Ability to translate technical yarn decisions into actionable guidance for cross functional teams and development partners.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced, design-led environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical information into clear development direction and next steps.
  • Proficiency in PLM systems and Excel for documentation, development tracking, and material readiness management.
