Job description

Job ID: 35709 - Yard Work Technician (Summer Seasonal)
Agency: Department of Transportation / Division of Operations
Location: Rapid City
Minimum Salary: $15.35
Closing Date: 05/31/2026
The normal summer season is approximately May through September. Opportunities may exist to begin earlier and work later. Most positions involve outdoor work and strenuous physical labor. Seasonal employees are paid only for hours worked.
Description:
Mowing, weeding, trimming, minor maintenance on yard care equipment, and other duties as assigned. Position is from July 2026 - October 2026 and will work between 20 and 40 hours a week.
General Requirements:
Position requires operation of lawn care equipment, outdoors during spring, summer, and fall, use of required safety equipment, and other yard care related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of operation or learning to operate a riding mower, electric trimmer, and other equipment as needed to complete work. Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, left 20 pounds frequently, and 40 pounds occasionally.
