Position Summary

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, organization, cleanliness, inventory, and safety of the company yard. This position ensures materials, equipment, vehicles, and supplies are properly stored, maintained, and available to support field operations. The Yard Supervisor coordinates with office staff, field supervisors, crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure materials and equipment are properly prepared and distributed as needed.

 Key Responsibilities

• Regular work hours are 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of one weekend per month as scheduled by management.

• Oversee daily yard operations, ensuring the yard is organized, clean, safe, and maintained according to company standards.

• Receive, organize, and distribute materials, equipment, trees, plants, irrigation supplies, and other items needed for field operations.

• Maintain accurate inventory of materials and supplies and communicate shortages or purchasing needs to management.

• Monitor and organize tree & plant inventory to help reduce waste, damage, and unnecessary material loss.

• Assist with loading and unloading materials, equipment, pallets, and deliveries as needed.

• Ensure materials are properly stored and labeled to allow for efficient identification and distribution.

• Coordinate with scheduling and field supervisors to prepare materials, equipment, and supplies for upcoming jobs.

• Assist with distributing materials to crews and subcontractors, including afternoon material deliveries or late-start projects when needed.

• Monitor company equipment and yard assets for damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns and report issues to management.

• Assist with equipment maintenance by coordinating repairs, ordering parts, and scheduling service as directed.

• Help maintain company vehicles, trailers, and equipment in an organized and operational condition.

• Conduct regular inspections of the yard, equipment, trailers, and storage areas to identify safety concerns, damaged materials, or organizational issues.

• Assist with irrigation trailer inventory and ensure materials are properly accounted for and returned when no longer needed.

• Coordinate with vendors and delivery drivers regarding incoming materials and deliveries.

• Maintain accurate records of inventory, material usage, equipment, and yard-related activities.

• Support field operations by helping ensure crews and subcontractors have the correct materials, equipment, and supplies needed to complete scheduled work.

• Participate in yard closing responsibilities, including securing equipment, materials, vehicles, and facilities at the end of the day.

• Communicate with management regarding yard operations, inventory concerns, equipment needs, and other operational issues.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Previous experience in landscaping, construction, warehouse, yard operations, or a related field preferred.

• Must be able to safely operate a Bobcat, loader, and other company equipment as required.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to operate or learn to operate company equipment and vehicles safely.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast paced environment.

• Basic computer and inventory tracking skills preferred.

Work Environment

• Primarily outdoor work environment with regular exposure to varying weather conditions.

• Frequent interaction with field crews, supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, drivers, and office staff.

• Fast paced environment requiring organization, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to changing operational needs.

• Regular use of company vehicles, equipment, tools, phones, and inventory systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work outdoors throughout the workday.
