Job description

SUMMARY: The purpose of the Lot Driver - Non CDL is to back trailer into and out of the loading dock.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform all pre and post trip checks as per protocol
  • Obey all local, State, Federal and DOT regulations
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and job performance in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Obey all animal welfare rules and regulation laws
  • Back trailers into and out of loading dock, safely maneuvering the trucks within the yard.
  • Assist with docking.
  • Inspect trailers (lot check).
  • Assist jack drivers with the movement of items in the dock area, as needed.
  • Only move trailer when light is green.
  • Communicate professionally with all other team members, including the truck drivers.
  • Chock wheels of trailer when backing into the loading dock.
  • When using an over the road tractor, ensure the pin on the fifth wheel is pulled and not re-hooked.
  • Responsible for being on call during the weekend as needed.
  • Responsible for using proper technique and any other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required
    • Valid driver's license
    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Clean driving record and ability to pass MVR background check
    • Ability to pass the PIV written test
  • Preferred
    • Previous experience as a Lot Driver (yard dog operator)
    • High school diploma or equivalent
