Job description

Steel Production Technician - 2nd shift
Starting at $22hr plus Shift Differential and Attendance Premium
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the machining, processing, and assembly of Steering Columns, and Haft Shafts to be shipped to major automobile manufacturers for final assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure 5S/TPM housekeeping activities are completed.
* Perform alarm recovery procedures.
* Collect NG parts and deliver to scrap analysis area.
* Identify product or process defects.
* Complete daily inventory and input data into TPM file.
* Perform re-runs for first pass kickouts.
* Perform TWI training and complete required documentation.
* Maintain quality alert awareness.
* Perform robot recovery activities.
* Run masters according to required frequency.
* Step in for associate bathroom breaks as needed.
* Stock production line materials.
* Deliver CMM parts to QC in a timely manner.
* Deliver test parts to QC in a timely manner.
* Train team members on applicable alarm recovery.
* Train team members on limit samples.
* Train team members on any/all equipment operations.
Other Functions
* Performs periodic inventory counts.
* Sorts finished goods to ensure only quality parts are received by the internal or external customers.
* Interacts professionally with co-workers and outside vendors.
* Maintains clean working environment.
* Continuously seeks to improve processes.
* Promotes a safe working environment.
* Communicates with other Associates, Technicians and Team Leaders regarding quality or production issues.
* Supervises Associates in the Team Leader’s absence.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalency is preferred
Experience: Position requires moderate experience with manufacturing processes, and on assembly lines.
Skills: Position requires understanding of basic quality tools, the ability to arrive to work consistently and on-time, the ability to read and understand directions, the ability to listen and follow instructions and the ability to work with a team.
Working Conditions: Position requires the ability to bend, twist, reach, perform repetitive arm movements, lift up to 30 pounds alone frequently or over 30 pounds with “Team Lift” occasionally, stand on concrete for extended periods of time, work mandatory overtime, and withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees.
