This hybrid position combines a forward-looking research agenda with hands-on leadership of advanced media facilities. The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to the development, integration, and day-to-day operation of cutting-edge technical infrastructure. The role bridges research and practice, ensuring that Experimental Music & Digital Media (EMDM) initiatives are effectively aligned with and embedded within broader Center for Computational Technologies (CCT) activities.


Job Responsibilities:

Develop and Lead an Interdisciplinary Research Agenda: Design and execute a research program that connects EMDM activities with other CCT domains. Areas of focus include collaborations with scientific labs, XR/VR development, immersive audio systems, or AI-focused research. The candidate should actively pursue cross-disciplinary partnerships and contribute to the institution's research output and reputation. (40%)


Foster Collaborative Projects Across Labs and Studios: Work closely with faculty, researchers, and students to support and initiate projects spanning areas such as ecosystemic media, extended reality, immersive sound, and explainable AI. Provide both conceptual and technical input to ensure innovative and impactful outcomes. (25%)


Manage and Maintain Advanced Media Facilities: Oversee operations, maintenance, and long-term planning for key facilities including A/V systems in the Theatre, XR Studio, Immersive Audio Lab, and Recording Studio (with potential involvement in additional labs based on expertise). Ensure all systems are functional, up-to-date, and aligned with research needs. (15%)


Support Technical Infrastructure and Strategic Upgrades: In collaboration with CCT staff, plan and implement equipment upgrades, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide specialized support for complex research projects. Serve as a technical resource for faculty and students, helping translate creative and research goals into viable technical solutions. (15%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D in Experimental Music, Music Technology, or other advanced digital media research field including those in Digital Media, Digital Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science and Engineering or related field, and 3 years of related coursework or experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D in Experimental Music, Music Technology, or related field and 5 or more years of related experience. Administration of sound and media related production facilities. Experience with large speaker arrays, network audio protocols such as Dante and AVB, Dolby ATMOS, immersive audio, tiled LED displays or other novel ways of producing and presenting media.
