Job description

Würth is looking for recent graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree from a university’s school of engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Manufacturing, Eng. Technology, or related field) to provide technical support for multiple engineering disciplines.

As an Application Engineer in Training, you will work directly with customer engineering teams to identify and implement fastener solutions that improve performance, reduce costs, and support manufacturing efficiency. After 9–12 months, you will transition into a permanent role based on your interests and business needs.

This role is based out of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm


Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment or any other visa, regardless of expiration date, now or in the future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recommend fastening solutions for customer-specific applications, considering performance, standardization, and total cost of ownership.
  • Conduct technical reviews of customer prints, part-to-print analysis, and engineering drawings.
  • Support teardown evaluations and production line walks to assess fastener performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Propose Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) alternatives to enhance quality, reduce cost, or improve assembly processes.
  • Build strong working relationships with customer engineering teams.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Wurth and customer design, engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product training to customer stakeholders.


Rotational Training Components

  • Product Knowledge: Gain a comprehensive understanding of standard commercial fasteners and their applications.
  • Quality Assurance: Learn Wurth's quality processes, inspection methods, and non-conformance management (e.g., FC and F2 processes).
  • Supply Chain & Sales Operations: Understand order fulfillment processes, IMR, CPSG, and Addendum workflows.
  • SAP Systems: Develop proficiency in SAP for part creation, project tracking, and data analysis.
  • Decoding & Nomenclature: Learn how parts are decoded, named, and managed in internal systems.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Manufacturing, Eng. Technology, or related field.
  • 0-4 years of engineering experience.
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Organized with the ability to work cross functionally.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, work, outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, while working with a team to deliver high quality of work.

Pay: Starting at $60,000

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, skills, work experience and certifications. You may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive bonus. An incentive bonus, if any, depends on various factors such as organizational performance.
