The WSJ Leadership Institute Marketing team is responsible for recruiting and retaining members of the world's foremost influential business memberships. We equip global executives with the essential intelligence and tools they need to better lead their industries and grow their businesses. We provide highly specialized services, including world-class events, thought leadership moments, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities that build on the power of Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal.
About the Role
The Marketing Associate will join an entrepreneurial team that supports the growth, engagement, and retention of multiple C-level communities within The WSJ Leadership Institute. In this role, you'll help create, run, and manage successful and exclusive membership groups that convene the world's leading C-Suite executives, politicians, industry experts, and vertical business communities. This includes event and membership recruitment, supporting and attending multiple in-person events, managing email communications, supporting the membership and sales teams, and coordinating with various stakeholders across WSJLI to provide an optimal experience for our members.
What You'll Do
This position will be the key marketing partner to the Marketing Manager and Marketing Director, providing support across the following duties:
  • Executing multi-channel campaign plans to drive membership acquisition, engagement, and support member retention, including: email, digital media, social, print, and partnerships;
  • Proactively analyze in-cycle campaigns-drawing on successes and failures to identify tactics that are working to deliver on goals;
  • Collaborate with Product and Brand teams on creative assets and work closely with the internal design team to continue to innovate/evolve based on response;
  • Work closely with the Council Managers to be a white-glove point of contact for members, optimize the member experience, manage the inquiries inbox, and troubleshoot any requests;
  • Take ownership of making updates to the various marketing websites, ensuring that all marketing websites are consistently up to date with key propositions and event details;
  • Identify and work with key partners, including industry associations, membership organizations, and media organizations;
  • Be a data-driven, analytical marketer who can own the narrative from marketing data to influence other departments to drive forward the product;
  • Provide on-site event support at key annual events;
  • Handle purchase orders and invoices in relation to marketing campaigns;
  • Develop and maintain clear dashboards/reports that summarize the performance of the marketing campaigns across the predetermined KPIs/metrics:
  • Share topline numbers weekly with the management team;
  • Measure and manage campaign costs, efficiencies, and drive ROI;
  • Analyze and identify actions to drive improved performance;
  • Produce post-event reporting.

What You'll Bring
  • 0-2 years marketing experience, ideally in B2B, publishing, events, media or agency equivalent;
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of subscription/membership models, with experience in direct marketing, is desirable;
  • Demonstrable experience with multi-channel campaign management, planning, and execution;
  • Ability to maintain efficient and effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders simultaneously, both internally and externally;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, along with very strong interpersonal skills;
  • A focus on data-driven approaches, but also a passion for creativity and forward-thinking flair;
  • A strong analytical approach to your work with a drive to consistently and accurately report against KPIs and goals;
  • Strong sense of responsibility for initiatives and a positive 'can-do' attitude at all times;
  • Experience embracing and driving change in a pacy environment;
  • An understanding of various marketing tools and programs, such as CVENT, WordPress, Salesforce, Tableau, Asana, and Google Drive
  • A keen, professional, and polished customer-facing attitude;
  • A desire to focus on automation and efficiency through AI systems.
