Key Responsibilities
As a Cellar Master, you will be the driving force behind our wine program, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence. This role combines technical expertise in wine service, inventory management, and team leadership with a passion for delivering personalized, memorable moments at sea.
  • Align wine service standards with voyage service score targets in partnership with the Director of Restaurant Operations and the Beverage Manager.
  • Personally greet VIP and Suite guests within 24 hours of boarding, providing expert wine recommendations and hosting curated tasting events and wine dinners.
  • Identify wine enthusiasts early in the voyage and coordinate tailored experiences with Sommeliers and Restaurant Servers.
  • Lead the integration of Princess MedallionClass technology within the Sommelier team to enhance personalized service.
  • Mentor and guide the Sommelier team, ensuring consistent delivery of guest-focused service.
  • Strategically deploy Sommeliers in high-traffic and specialty dining venues during peak service hours.
  • Conduct structured performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to company policies and CRUISE Service Essentials.
  • Track market trends and guest preferences to develop innovative wine programs and tasting events, leveraging slow-moving or regional stock.
  • Take an active lead in executing signature events such as the Frescobaldi Dinner and Sanctuary Class wine programs on Sphere Class vessels.
  • Collaborate with Hotel Inventory Manager, Provision Master, and Beverage Manager to manage wine inventory strategically.
  • Monitor daily wine sales performance and provide detailed reporting to leadership.
  • Ensure accurate inventory counts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain par levels across all service areas.
  • Develop depletion plans for aged or slow-moving wines while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Oversee timely and accurate submission of all required reports to the Director of Restaurant Operations and Corporate Office.
  • Ensure compliance with company protocols for wine service, stock control, and POS system usage.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Extensive working wine knowledge with a WSET, ISG, CMS or SWE certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an equivalent role is required (Four star and above preferred: Hotel Resort or Restaurant);
  • Previous cruise ship experience as Cellar Master, Senior Sommelier or similar positions is strongly recommended.
  • Extensive knowledge of varying wine and beverage brands, trends and quality.
  • Knowledge of new and old-world wines, including food and wine pairing, with the capability to conduct wine tasting sessions for large groups of guests, officers and/or teammates.
  • Ability to train and mentor teams in wine service and sales techniques
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and cost control principles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer software skills required (Word; Excel; Outlook etc.)
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to interact with others in a culturally diverse and dynamic environment.
