As a member of the F5 Documentation team, your focus will be on developing and maintaining documentation for the F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform.
Technical Writers at F5 are responsible for designing, developing, publishing, and maintaining technical content that supports customers in the use of F5 products and services. We partner with Product Managers, Engineers, User Experience Designers, and other stakeholders to build a deep understanding of the customers' needs and to advocate for them in design and development discussions. Technical Writers are uniquely positioned to see the big picture and connect the dots between features, to tell a complete story about how and why to use a product.
Responsibilities
  • Manage technical documentation projects from design to release ready, working with stakeholders to identify, scope, and prioritize deliverables and release timeframes.

  • Leverage cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders to understand business needs, define problems, and ensure document development aligns with business objectives and priorities.

  • Collaborate with the Product team to gather requirements and provide input on user interface design, user experience, and documentation integration.

  • Partner with Engineering, Product, UX Design, Quality Assurance, Customer Success, etc. to create content to support F5 products.

  • Organize and facilitate the content review process. Review and edit technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to style guidelines, ensuring that content meets quality standards and requirements.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in technical writing principles, methodologies, and tools, advising on best practices and standards.

  • Use git to manage source code, as well as to give and receive peer code reviews.

  • Participate in team efforts like style guide development, content strategy, & content audits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for someone who is confident in their ability to work independently. Your communication skills are commendable. You can distill extremely technical concepts into documentation that is engaging, empathetic, and easy to understand.
You're a great collaborator who is comfortable working in diverse, geographically distributed teams. You have excellent teamwork skills, including a desire to help others grow their own abilities. You enjoy learning new things and are an avid information gatherer.
In addition, we're looking for a few key technical requirements that will help you excel:
  • experience with Linux systems and the command-line interface;

  • experience with container technologies using Docker and Kubernetes; application delivery networking and related concepts; and/or service provider networking;

  • understanding of web technologies (e.g., HTTP, REST, JSON); and

  • experience with cloud technologies -- both public and private -- such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and VMware vSphere.

Qualifications
  • BA or BS degree in Technical Communications, Writing, English, or a related area -- or -- equivalent experience

  • At least three years' technical writing experience

The annual base pay for this position is: $89,600.00 - $134,400.00
