Job description

Responsibilities
Noblis is seeking a Proposal Editor to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on a variety of proposal-related documents to edit and desktop publish (DTP) materials in a manner that improves their quality and ensures that they are editorially correct but does not alter their technical accuracy or meaning. Will edit and DTP technical and nontechnical text as necessary to prepare and finalize compelling proposals. Will also support strategy for proposal writing and marketing communications across a variety of channels, with a strong focus on federal proposal submissions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Serve as editor and desktop publisher for proposal sections, white papers, and other content to support proposal efforts.
  • Review solicitations for technical requirements and ensure that those requirements are met.
  • Edit writing of proposal team for style, grammar, punctuation, content, spelling, readability, and clarity.
  • Mentor personnel on effective proposal editing/writing strategies; help maintain written documentation on proposal editing procedures; communicate these procedures to stakeholders; discuss and explain reasons for edits to technical writers.
  • Work with proposal managers to develop proposal outlines and templates and to write proposal sections (such as past performance and resumes) when needed.
  • Help edit text supporting graphics.
  • Compose and maintain supporting information, such as biographical sketches, current and pending support, company history, and facilities descriptions that need to be customized for each submission.
  • Participate in final production process, including desktop publishing, quality control, and white glove, and also ensure that all production/format specifications are followed.
  • Help maintain repository of frequently used proposal information.
  • Perform additional internal and external communication tasks related to business development team efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of technical writing/editing and/or publication experience OR Master's Degree with 1+ year of experience of technical writing/editing and/or publication experience
  • Proven experience writing, editing, and reviewing technical proposal documents for clarity, compliance, and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Solid organizational, time management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft 365 applications; experience with SharePoint and proposal development processes.

Desired Qualifications
  • CF APMP certified or knowledgeable of the Shipley proposal process.
  • Familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Familiar with Atlassian Jira and/or Confluence.
  • Experience coordinating proposals and/or RFIs.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.
