About the Role

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Public Relations Specialist to join our US Consumer Communications team. In this role, you'll support Hamilton Beach Brands' communications strategy by driving media outreach, building relationships with key press and influencer contacts, and generating earned coverage across food, home, lifestyle, and consumer product categories.
This position plays an important role in supporting Hamilton Beach Brands continued growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The role collaborates closely with cross-functional partners and contributes to key business initiatives that support the company’s long-term strategy.

This position is based in our Corporate Headquarters in Glen Allen, VA and reports to the Public Relations Manager.

Salary Range:$60,130.00 To $73,015.00 Annually

What You’ll Do

  • Pitch product stories, trends, and timely news angles to national media outlets.
  • Write and develop press releases, media pitches, fact sheets, award submissions, and other press materials.
  • Coordinate product samples and manage deadlines for media and influencer requests.
  • Maintain online newsrooms, digital media kits, and other communication assets.
  • Track media coverage and monitor industry trends in real-time; create and distribute month and quarterly coverage reports.
  • Identify media opportunities and execute strategies that drive engagement and earned coverage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts in the food, home, lifestyle, and consumer product spaces.
  • Stay current on product launches, consumer trends, and brand messaging.

What We’re Looking For

  • Submission of 2-3 existing writing samples is recommended, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Internship or relevant experience in public relations, communications, media, or marketing required.
  • Experience with Canva preferred
  • Familiarity with Qwoted or similar media request platform is a plus.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with media databases and monitoring platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and an understanding of how earned media intersects with social content.
  • Comfort with AI tools for content drafting, research, or media monitoring is a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15-20% as needed.
