Job description:

At Trellis LLC, Job Coaches provide one-on-one, individualized support to help people succeed in their jobs. This role is hands-on, working directly at client job sites to teach skills, build confidence, and support long-term employment success.

What You’ll Do- Direct Job Coaching & Support

  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to each client’s needs at their worksite and community
  • Help clients learn job duties and perform tasks successfully on-site
  • Assist with workplace systems (pay stubs, scheduling, time-off requests)
  • Attend orientations and support onboarding
  • Help manage and coordinate client work schedules
  • Ensure client stability by proactively providing support as needed

Employer & Team Communication

  • Communicate with employers, managers, and team members timely and proactively
  • Advocate for accommodations and support client success
  • Check in with employers to gather feedback and ensure job retention
  • Maintain professional and proactive communication

Documentation & Organization

  • Complete organized, accurate daily progress notes for each client you support daily
  • Maintain client records in the online database
  • Respond to emails promptly and communicate effectively with the team

Ongoing Support & Development

  • Provide tools to help clients learn and retain skills (checklists, visuals, etc.)
  • Complete required annual training (12+ hours)
  • Provide suggestions to improve client performance
  • Facilitate successful new employment onboarding for client job placements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Independent, reliable, and able to manage a schedule with minimal supervision
  • Patient and understanding of individuals with disabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Solution based problem solvers who enjoy working with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with adults who experience barriers to employment, specifically I/DD; OR a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or special education; OR 1+ year of human services-related experience
  • Established work history (1+ year), preferably in retail, food service, or customer-facing roles
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable insured vehicle, and ability to travel throughout the Portland Metro Area
  • Ability to pass ODHS background check
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in communication-related fields
  • Knowledge of supported employment practices
  • Experience in public relations or technical writing
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience as a Job Coach
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout job sites
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to use a computer and office equipment
  • Ability to drive between worksites throughout the day

Work Environment

This is an in-person, field-based role, frequently working at client job sites throughout the Portland Metro area- including Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas County
