Accounting Assistant
Location: Dubuque, IA 52001
Cordental Group Management, LLC is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team! We offer a flexible hybrid schedule, a collaborative environment, and an opportunity for professional development.
The Accounting Assistant will work collaboratively with the Accounting Supervisor to apply principals of accounting to analyze financials information, prepare financial reports by compiling information and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures, and assist in other administrative responsibilities within the executive office. The ideal candidate will have experience as a junior accountant, and have strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate financial records by posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Reconciles bank accounts by gathering and balancing information
  • Reviews bank statement reconciliations by comparing statements with general ledger
  • Assist with updating and reconciling accounts receivable
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and support schedules according to company timelines
  • Assist with the monthly closing procedures
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
  • Protect organizational integrity by maintaining confidentiality of financial information
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed
What We are Looking For:
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent knowledge of major accounting software – Sage Intacct experience is a plus
  • Proven experience as a junior accountant
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Great analytical mindset and the ability to interpret financial data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to respond to employee and corporate inquiries in a timely manner
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree in accounting (or degree in progress - current accounting students are welcome to apply)
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training will be considered
