Job description

Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Manager opening for our client in Chicago, IL.

Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 12+ Months

Position Overview:
As a Technical Manager, this role is accountable for the management of application development and payment systems. The successful candidate will enforce application development and system standards and procedures, oversee tool selection and maintenance, and manage application/system architecture and integration functions.

Duties:

  • Lead the development and integration of APIs for payment gateways, third-party services, and internal systems to ensure seamless data exchange.
  • Utilize .NET technologies (C#, .NET, etc.) to build robust applications related to payment processing and financial transactions.
  • Design and manage SQL databases to efficiently store and retrieve payment data while optimizing performance for high transaction volumes.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to payment systems, APIs, and database performance, providing ongoing support to ensure reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive programs and projects to successful completion within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Communicate technology matters effectively to business partners, senior executives, and strategic partners.
  • Maintain compliance with payment standards (e.g., PCI) and best practices.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of credit/debit authorization processes and APIs with major processors (e.g., Worldpay, Chase, Valuelink).
  • Expertise in Microsoft .NET and SQL, particularly in developing highly concurrent and redundant transaction models.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to influence and gain support for initiatives through effective business rationale.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to make tough decisions.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in application development, payment systems, and API integration.
  • Experience with payment gateways and standards (e.g., WorldPay/Verifone, PayPal) is a plus.
  • Successful track record of managing complex programs in large corporate environments.
  • Experience leading programs in the education domain is preferred.

Education:

  • Advanced degree preferred.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
