What is a workstream?

Workstreams are structured groups of related tasks or activities that are organized to achieve specific goals within a larger project or program. Each workstream typically focuses on a distinct area, such as technology, operations, or communications, and is managed by a dedicated team or individual. Workstreams help streamline project management by breaking down complex initiatives into more manageable segments, enabling better allocation of resources and clearer accountability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Workstream Manager?

To thrive as a Workstream Manager, you need strong project management skills, domain expertise relevant to your industry, and experience leading cross-functional initiatives, often supported by a bachelor's degree or higher. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana, Jira, or Microsoft Project, and certifications such as PMP or Agile Scrum Master, are highly valued. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities help drive team alignment and manage stakeholder expectations. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, risk mitigation, and successful execution of complex organizational goals.

Job description

ABOUT 3CI
3Ci, an MAU company, is an IT professional services and technology consulting firm specializing in full-stack software development, data engineering, process intelligence, and digital transformation. We partner with leading enterprises to accelerate transformation and deliver measurable business outcomes.
As 3Ci scales its Technology Solutions business, Delivery & Product Excellence has become a strategic differentiator - ensuring complex, multi-discipline work is delivered with rigor, predictability, and enterprise-grade execution. The Delivery practice owns the frameworks, talent, and operating discipline that sit at the heart of every 3Ci engagement.THE OPPORTUNITY
The Consultant - Delivery is an autonomous workstream owner who manages meaningful project tracks within client engagements with moderate supervision. This role bridges foundational execution and senior delivery leadership - combining structured PM discipline with growing client relationship skills and an emerging ability to guide junior team members.
Consultants are expected to apply 3Ci's delivery frameworks independently, surface and escalate risks proactively, and begin demonstrating the advisory presence that distinguishes great consulting delivery. AI proficiency is a core expectation at this level - both as a personal productivity multiplier and as a capability Consultants begin sharing with clients and teammates.WHAT YOU'LL DO
Workstream & Project Management
  • Independently manage project workstreams: own schedules, milestones, deliverables, and quality without daily supervision
  • Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, change logs, status reports, and executive dashboards
  • Facilitate sprint ceremonies, daily standups, retrospectives, and cross-team working sessions
  • Identify risks proactively and escalate with well-formed mitigation recommendations
  • Manage cross-team dependencies across 3Ci practice areas and client organizations
Client Engagement & Communication
  • Serve as day-to-day delivery point of contact for client working-level project managers
  • Prepare and present status updates and deliverables to client stakeholders with confidence
  • Document requirements, user stories, and process flows with precision
  • Manage working-level scope conversations, escalating material changes to senior leads
Delivery Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Apply 3Ci frameworks, agile/hybrid methodologies, and governance standards consistently across all engagements
  • Conduct quality reviews on all owned deliverables before client submission
  • Contribute to delivery templates, toolkits, and practice improvement initiatives
  • Lead and document retrospectives on owned workstreams
Team Contribution & Coaching
  • Provide structured coaching and guidance to Junior Consultants on delivery standards and professional practices
  • Contribute to internal delivery operations: resource planning inputs, utilization reporting, capacity tracking
  • Support pursuit activities under senior direction: scoping support, effort estimates, proposal content
AI-Assisted Delivery
  • Apply AI tools independently to accelerate workstream delivery: automated status reporting, risk log analysis, and meeting intelligence (Copilot, Fireflies, Otter.ai)
  • Use AI-assisted backlog grooming, sprint analytics, and delivery forecasting to improve team velocity
  • Advise client working-level teams on AI tool adoption for project coordination workflows
  • Develop and contribute to 3Ci's AI Delivery Playbook with documented use cases and lessons learned
  • Apply prompt engineering skills to produce consistently high-quality AI-assisted project artifacts
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2-5 years of project management or consulting delivery experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of project workstreams from initiation through closure
  • Proficiency in PM tools: Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, Confluence, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of agile, scrum, and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Hands-on professional experience with AI productivity tools in a delivery context
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills at the working level
Preferred Certifications & Credentials
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) - active pursuit or recently earned
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II)
  • PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner)
  • SAFe Practitioner (SP) or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)
  • CAPM if PMP is not yet in progress
  • Microsoft AI Skills, Coursera AI product management, or equivalent formal AI training
WHY 3CI
At 3Ci, Consultants own real workstreams - not support tasks. You'll build your delivery skills on programs that matter, develop client relationships at the working level, and grow your AI fluency in a team that takes it seriously. We support your path to Senior Consultant with certification investment, structured mentorship, and a culture that rewards ownership and initiative.
3Ci is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
