Our Design Studio team, in our Chicago office is seeking a Project Manager. This role will support the engineering of systems for a variety of projects while working closely with clients, client reps, architects, and MEP engineers in creating designs for all kinds of spaces.

Most duties will be performed in an office environment. dbHMS currently operates with both hybrid and remote-only work policies. The remainder of the duties will be performed in a combination of office environment and construction/field environment which will involve trips to projects sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and frequently is required to walk. The work typically requires the use hands to type, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The typical week consists of five, eight-hour shifts.

Position Overview
A Project Manager within dbHMS will have the capacity to execute complex projects independently and manage multidisciplinary teams through a project’s life cycle. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to coordinate diverse teams, manage resources, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
This position is expected to be comfortable representing the company to external clients as well as other industry professionals (tradespeople, sales representatives, etc.), which is paramount in design and construction of a project, as well as building and maintaining industry relationships.
Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for executing projects and managing/developing multidiscipline teams, utilizing dbHMS's business systems and project management tools.
  • Directly support Senior Project Management team on large scale projects.
  • Establish client relations, and be involved with project marketing, contractual, design and production processes.
  • Independently manage diverse teams of staff engineers and sub-consultants.
  • Coordinate workload for projects from start to finish, ensuring resources are allocated properly to ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Participate in reviews with authorities having jurisdiction over projects.
  • Conduct working sessions and quality assurance processes with multidisciplinary design team.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort and schedule to ensure profitability.
  • Participate in project financial reviews with the accounting team for invoicing and contract management.
  • Contribute to new project pursuits and developing project scopes.
  • Some regional/national travel may be expected.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited MEP Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management program.
  • 3 – 7 years’ relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and consultants.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional licensure in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Recent project experience in one or more of the following markets: Higher Education Science/Labs, Aviation, or Healthcare.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Work experience integrating AI tools into project workflows.
