The Director, Workplace Planning and Executive Engagement leads planning associates and practice groups responsible for delivering high-quality financial planning, benefits optimization, executive engagement, and related client experiences across Empower. This role fosters a client-focused, high-performance culture by coaching and developing advisors and planning associates, supervising registered activity, managing team execution, and ensuring the consistent delivery of planning experiences that build trust, improve client outcomes, and strengthen client relationships.

Reporting to the Vice President, Workplace Planning and Executive Engagement, this role is accountable for the execution and performance of assigned teams and practice groups. The Director partners with the Vice President to design, implement, and continuously improve the operating infrastructure required to scale high-performing planning and executive engagement teams. Responsibilities include developing service standards, operating procedures, practice management resources, reporting, training, quality controls, technology enablement, and workforce planning that improve advisor effectiveness, client outcomes, and overall business performance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain planning associates responsible for comprehensive financial planning, benefits optimization, executive engagement, and related planning and advisory services

  • Establish performance expectations for client experience, planning quality, productivity, compliance, collaboration, operational excellence, and business results

  • Conduct coaching sessions, quality observations, performance reviews, and career development discussions that strengthen advisor capabilities and leadership effectiveness

  • Manage team capacity, staffing, workload distribution, and practice group assignments to optimize service delivery and business performance

  • Partner with Human Resources, Learning & Development, Compliance, and business leaders to recruit, onboard, develop, and retain top talent

  • Oversee the delivery of client-focused financial planning and executive engagement experiences that promote personalized guidance and exceptional client service

  • Monitor planning quality, service standards, workflows, and associate performance while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Lead resolution of escalated client and plan sponsor issues while reinforcing a client-first culture

  • Partner with the Vice President to enhance operating infrastructure, reporting, procedures, quality standards, and scalable service models

  • Develop standardized workflows, playbooks, dashboards, and workforce planning tools that improve advisor effectiveness and organizational performance

  • Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and the client experience.

  • Support organizational change initiatives and lead the successful execution of strategic departmental priorities

  • Own accountability for team performance and business results by monitoring key performance indicators, driving execution against established goals, and implementing action plans that improve client experience, productivity, quality, compliance, and overall business performance

  • Partner cross-functionally to support client engagement, advisor effectiveness, and business growth

  • Use reporting and performance analytics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement

  • Serve in a supervisory capacity for registered associates by reviewing and supervising registered activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policy

  • Reinforce compliant, ethical, and client-first behaviors

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional work experience required

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred

  • Seven or more years of experience leading and developing sales, advisor, financial planning, wealth management, retirement, or client service teams

  • Experience supervising registered associates and leading financial planning or advisory teams

  • Demonstrated success leading teams to achieve measurable business results, client experience objectives, operational excellence, quality standards, and sustainable growth

  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and inspire high-performing advisors and planning professionals

  • Experience developing operating models, procedures, scorecards, dashboards, and scalable business infrastructure

  • Strong knowledge of retirement plans, investments, advisory services, wealth management, and financial planning

  • Executive compensation, workplace benefits, non-qualified plans, equity compensation, or executive engagement experience preferred

  • Experience leading phone-based advisory teams, contact center environments, or geographically distributed teams preferred

  • FINRA Series 7, Series 24 (or 9/10), and Series 63 & 65, or Series 66, required

  • FINRA Fingerprinting required

  • CFP certification required or obtained within corporate-approved timelines

  • CRPC designation required or obtained within corporate-established timelines

  • ChFC designation preferred

  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional partnership skills

Base Salary Range

$125,400.00 - $181,875.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
