Job Description

We are seeking a Product Manager ("PM") to join our Workload Automation team in Plano, TX, where you will collaborate closely with the Product Owner ("PO") and R&D to drive enhancements and new capabilities to a suite of workload automation programs that run the world's largest enterprises. These solutions orchestrate workflows to ensure applications such as payroll gets processed on time, financial institutions start the morning with the correct balance, and so forth.

The PM is a Customer/Market facing role, responsible for identifying and continuously validating addressable market opportunities aligned to Broadcom's Mainframe software strategy. The PM understands and communicates the voice of the target customer, and combines these to achieve market success through delivering new or improved product or solution offerings. Ultimately, the PM is responsible for the product business case. This means ensuring long term profitability for the product by providing leadership (and guidance) across multiple functions. Often, the PM serves as the focal point for all Go-To-Market activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Executive, Engineering, Marketing and extended Product Team to identify market gaps needing to be addressed, and improve existing or create new products.

  • Make, buy, or partner on plans to fill product requirements in the market.

  • Ensure value is continuously available for existing products and bring new products to market

  • Research and segment the market to ensure the appropriate (prioritized) market requirements are gathered and understood.

  • Develop the engineering roadmap that includes all prioritized requirements

  • Create the product marketing plan

  • Create the product sales plans

  • Ensure adoption and customer success after the product is sold

  • Understand the mainframe workload automation space, including experience with CA 7, ESP, or competitive programs from BMC (Control M) and IBM (IBM Workload Scheduler)

  • Experience with distributed workload scheduling market - e.g., AutoSys, Automic - a plus.

  • Regular meetings with customers and presentations at customer conferences, including SHARE and MTE

Product Management

  • Lead the cross-functional product team in support of the overall Product Management discipline for a Release

  • Conduct continuous market research and assessment activities to ensure the team is aligned to the market opportunities, and able to react quickly to changing market dynamics

  • Build customer insights into all stages of the planning and execution process, ensuring the continuous validation of features and stories with customers

  • Collaborate across value streams and business units, as needed, to coordinate work that extends beyond the complete control of the Mainframe Workload Automation team.

Program Portfolio Management

  • Own Business Epics and Capabilities to define acceptance criteria

  • Shepherd product deliverables through the Agile development systems

  • Monitor and report on the progress of the product deliverables with Key Stakeholders

  • Own product lifecycle for all features within the release; establish installation, support, upgrade, and migration strategies that balance business goals, technological capabilities, and customer experience

Continuous Planning

  • Leveraging the PO and Senior Engineering team, own the continuing planning process, including preparation and presentation of materials critical to the release planning process

  • Supervise the PI Planning process, including balancing backlog items at the release level across % breakdown of new stories, refactoring, improvement activities, and technical debt reduction

  • Communicate current business context, including milestones and significant external dependencies

  • Drive the Product Management team in the early and continuous validation of features and stories with Customers, Analysts, and Broadcom's customer facing teams to maximize the market value of the software delivered

Release and Risk Management

  • Drive Release Management with an eye to scope management, quality, deployment options, release, and market consideration

  • Manage the on-going change management as process business and technical scope is adjusted

Bachelor's + 12+ years of related experience is required

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is$123,800 - $198,000
