Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Pre-Construction Commodity Manager, you will lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities that support the planning and development phases of major Grid Technology projects, including HVDC and FACTS installations. Your day will involve collaborating with engineering, estimating, project management, and construction teams to develop procurement strategies, evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate commercial terms, and identify opportunities to optimize project costs and schedules before execution begins. You will play a critical role in ensuring that materials, subcontractors, and procurement plans are aligned with project requirements and business objectives. Through proactive supplier engagement and market analysis, you will help establish a strong foundation for successful project delivery.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Serve as the primary procurement interface for assigned suppliers and subcontractors during the pre-construction phase of Grid Technology projects.
  • Develop and implement sourcing and subcontractor strategies that support project planning, estimating, and execution readiness for HVDC and FACTS installations.
  • Lead commercial evaluations, bid analysis, supplier negotiations, and contract discussions in collaboration with technical and project stakeholders.
  • Drive cost optimization and risk mitigation initiatives by identifying sourcing opportunities, market trends, and procurement efficiencies early in the project lifecycle.
  • Partner closely with Procurement, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Erection & Commissioning, and Project Management teams to support project planning and successful execution.
  • Utilize digital procurement and supplier management systems to manage requests for proposals, supplier qualifications, purchase orders, and procurement documentation.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-construction, construction procurement, strategic sourcing, estimating, civil construction, or project commercial management.
  • Advanced negotiation and contract management skills with experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a matrixed, international, and cross-functional business environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills with a proactive, customer-focused mindset.
