Job description

Deerfield is looking to employ working shift supervisor, responsible for organizing and leading staff and seeing that each shift runs smoothly.

Job Characteristics
  • Supervise staff and lead shifts, to include organizing staff, minimizing machine downtime and ensuring lines are completed in a timely manner
  • Manage staff timecards, ensuring each employee clocks in and out properly and on time
  • Troubleshoot problems for staff and provide assistance and guidance whenever possible
  • Measure and evaluate employee productivity on a frequent basis
  • Submit daily end of shift reports, including information such as machine workloads, pending maintenance tickets, personnel issues and absences
  • Perform 30/60/90 day reviews of new employees and annual reviews of all reporting employees
  • Inspect the first piece of each employeeโ€™s batch for quality issues such as correct stamping and precise measurements
  • Resolve or escalate employee issues as necessary
  • Provide basic upkeep on machinery and escalate severe issues to maintenance department
  • Train and provide continued support new employees in assigned area
  • Perform and log weekly hazardous waste inspections
  • Complete production jobs in between supervisor duties
  • Required Skills
  • Excellent people skills and able to effectively lead a team
  • Additional training required: Hazardous Waste, First Aid, CPR, Power Industrial Truck License (1D), Hoisting License (3A)
  • Indepth understanding of correct and safe operation of all machinery in assigned area
  • Close attention to detail in a fastpaced environment
  • Written and verbal English communication skills
  • Able to work with a team to accomplish company goals
  • Strict attention to safety procedures and guidelines including wearing all personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Willingness to keep and maintain a clean and safe work environment
