Job description

Whether you're an experienced professional or just getting started, your contributions matter at Fortra. If you're passionate about tackling meaningful challenges alongside talented team members committed to helping each other succeed, all while having lots of fun, we want to hear from you. We offer competitive benefits and salaries, personal and professional development opportunities, flexibility, and much more!
Fortra is seeking an experienced Cleared Solutions Architect / Technical Consultant to support mission-critical customers operating in classified defense and intelligence environments. This role is a foundational hire within Fortra's Defense & Intelligence Unit (DIU) and is designed to enable deeper technical engagement, operational visibility, and trusted partnership with customers where classified access is mandatory.
This role combines elements of Solutions Architecture, Technical Account Management (TAM), and Professional Services, tailored specifically for classified environments where Fortra's existing commercial support and sales models do not meet the unique needs of this community. The individual will act as a trusted technical interface between Fortra and classified customers, providing hands-on expertise, architectural insight, and real-time troubleshooting that cannot be delivered remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Classified Customer Engagement
  • Serve as the primary Fortra technical resource for assigned classified customer environments.
  • Engage on-site with customer technical teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues related to Fortra solutions.
  • Gain deep understanding of customer architectures, configurations, mission requirements, and operational constraints that cannot be accessed by uncleared personnel.

Technical & Architectural Expertise
  • Provide expert guidance on deployment, configuration, customization, and optimization of Fortra technologies in highly regulated environments.
  • Analyze logs, system behavior, and performance data shared directly by customers in classified settings.
  • Translate operational realities back to Fortra product, engineering, and support teams to improve product quality and roadmap alignment.

Trusted Advisor & Program Enablement
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, enabling higher-confidence adoption and expansion of Fortra solutions.
  • Support pre-sales and post-sales technical conversations that cannot be conducted by personnel without appropriate clearances.
  • Reduce reliance on third-party partners for cleared technical access, increasing Fortra's intimacy and credibility with defense and intelligence customers.

DIU Capability Building
  • Serve as a foundational contributor to DIU's cleared technical operating model.
  • Help establish repeatable patterns for classified customer engagement, including documentation, best practices, and escalation workflows.
  • Support expansion into additional classified accounts by enabling proof-of-concepts, pilots, and technical validation activities.

Why This Role Exists
  • Classified environments require cleared individuals for both pre- and post-sales technical engagement; this work cannot be performed effectively by remote or uncleared teams.
  • Fortra currently lacks sufficient visibility into how customers deploy and operate solutions in some classified environments, creating risk to customer satisfaction and growth.
  • This role enables Fortra to move from partner-dependent support to direct, trusted engagement, accelerating maturity of its defense and intelligence business.
  • The role directly supports DIU's mandate to professionalize, scale, and systematize Fortra's presence in classified markets.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
    • Full-scope polygraph strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Solutions Architecture
    • Technical Consulting / Professional Services
    • Technical Account Management
    • Systems Engineering in classified environments
  • Strong technical background in:
    • Enterprise software deployments
    • Security-sensitive architectures
    • Troubleshooting complex, distributed systems
  • Experience supporting customers or programs in classified defense or intelligence environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on-site in classified facilities and adhere to strict operational security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting data security, data classification, or information protection technologies.
  • Familiarity with DoD / IC operational environments, procurement realities, and compliance constraints.
  • Experience working directly with cleared government customers without intermediary partners.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in high-pressure, mission-critical situations.

Organizational Placement & Reporting
  • This role will sit within the Fortra Defense & Intelligence Unit (DIU).
  • Reporting structure will reflect classified access constraints and the need for limited information sharing outside cleared channels.
  • The role does not align with existing commercial job families and is intentionally positioned within DIU.

Why Join Fortra DIU
  • Play a critical role at the intersection of national security, technology, and trust.
  • Operate with real mission impact, not theoretical use cases.
  • Help shape how Fortra builds and scales its defense and intelligence business long term.

Compensation: 150,000 USD to 185,000 USD
