Summary:
American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) is looking for a Barge Readiness Mechanic who will play a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency and reliability of our barges, contributing to the smooth flow of goods along our waterways.
The ideal candidate will have experience in marine maintenance and repair, with a focus on ensuring the readiness and safety of our barge fleet. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the barge fleet with focus on improving equipment reliability and preventing dock rejections. This may include, but is not limited to conducting inspections, evaluations, and repairs to equipment and hulls within regulation to TBSIP programs.

What you will be doing... YourIMPACT
  • Schedule, coordinate, and make necessary barge repairs for the assigned area.
  • Ensure safe working conditions at maintenance, repair facilities & for Team Members and guests.
  • Perform and coordinate barge reliability inspections, SIRE inspections to ensure safe and efficient equipment operations, and verify USCG/TBSIP guidelines are met.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and other required records associated with the repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials for the repairs of barges.,
  • Assist outside vendors with repairs of barges.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for...
You will need to have:
  • High School Diploma or GED is Required.
  • 5+ Years of mechanical maintenance experience and repairs of associated equipment is required.
  • Prior towboat troubleshooting and repair experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain an active TWIC
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must live within reasonable driving distance of assigned location
  • Perform all work in accordance with ACBL safety and environmental policies, USCG regulations, and Government regulations.
  • Must be available for on-call support on weekends, nights.
  • Be a leader in safety and environmental stewardship in the ACBL fleet.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Barge Maintenance Manual and use for all repairs and daily activities.
