Job description

The Salvage Naval Architect (SNA) reports to the Salvage Master while on project sites and to the Engineering Manager and the Director of Projects. This position supports Resolve Marine's global emergency response, salvage, and wreck removal operations. While supporting these operations, the position responsibilities range from development of emergency response and wreck removal technical plans, engineering support for field operations and fleet support, as well as onsite field Naval Architecture support.

Due to the nature of Resolve Marine's operational requirements, this position requires immediate travel if an emergency response or salvage operation is initiated. Our SNA's will potentially travel offsite of their home office for extended durations, with a maximum single deployment of approximately 12 weeks at any given time. Our SNA's travel the world supporting operations to save and salvage ships and marine vessels, conduct vessel wreck removal operations and emergency repairs, as such this is not primarily an office setting position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Project Manager, Salvage Master and operations team as needed including the development of written technical plans, drawings and diagrams to support operations, preform initial emergency response surveys, towing plans and calculations, rigging design and vessel connections, vessel arrangements and site plans.
  • Develop 3D hull models for use in stability software for damage stability, salvage, and wreck removal operations.
  • Use stability software and hydrostatics information to develop ground reactions, ballast/cargo discharge requirement and estimate freeing force requirements.
  • Support various emergency response, salvage, and wreck removal jobs by developing the engineering plans, arrangements, and drawings to the satisfaction of the client and appropriate authorities. This includes both onsite and remote support for the salvage team.
  • Develop written technical plans to be submitted to the client and appropriate authorities for various emergency response, salvage, and wreck removal operations.
  • Work with classification societies and flag state's regarding maintenance and modifications to Resolve Marine's own floating assets.
  • Develop drawings and/or plans for modifications to Resolve Marine's own floating assets.
  • Maintain engineering reports and plans developed for Resolve Marine's emergency response, salvage, and wreck removal projects.
  • Develop structural design using first principle and advanced analysis calculations.
  • Develop detail design/drafting in CAD format for vessel modifications, vessel repairs, outfitting and site plans.
  • Develop and engineer heavy lift and rigging arrangements.
  • Develop and engineer vessel mooring system arrangements.
  • Support other engineering projects that are associated with Resolve Marine's other business units.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, providing technical support on-site or remotely.
  • Assist the project management team in other support roles as may be required
