Job description

Summary

To routinely create innovative, high-quality print and digital visual solutions for the marketing and communication needs of various clients that align with the brand standards and contribute to the team's creative excellence.

Essential Functions

A key member of the Barry Ad Company and Marketing and Brand department, the Graphic Designer develops and maintains creative assets for branding and marketing communications towards the goals of building enrollment, increasing retention, and enhancing visibility and reputation within the community. The graphic designer develops a wide range of creative solutions that are both traditional (print, collateral materials, on-site, OOH, etc.) as well as digital.

  • Must show a high level of creativity and creative curiosity in developing graphic design concepts.

  • Must have mastery in layout and production design using design apps (Adobe Creative Cloud) and/or others.

  • Must have criteria for photo selection, retouching and image archiving.

  • Must have knowledge of color theory and color relationships, typography terms and specifications, page composition and grid structure.

  • Assists with providing accurate time and cost estimates for printing, proofing, and delivery.

  • Manages projects. Works closely with marketing clients on deliverables.

  • Maintains strict adherence to deadlines, deliverable specs, client briefs and feedback.

  • Keeps up to date with software enhancements, design, and visual communication trends.

  • Organizes and maintains project files.

  • Serves as a mentor and a guide for student ad company staff.

  • Must be able to accept feedback and direction (that may vary from positive to negative), address revisions based on this feedback and post for continuing approvals.

  • Participates in the development of creative solutions to effectively communicate through a wide variety of creative tactics.

  • Works with the Art Director, and the account service team to manage workflow of all projects, which includes the interaction with the Communications team, outside agencies, copywriters, and freelancers. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet specified deadlines.

  • Participates in weekly departmental staff meetings and any creative meetings.

  • Provide accurate time and cost estimates for deliverables, as assigned.

  • Assists at photo/video shoots.

  • Oversees the creative asset production process ensuring production techniques, and file accuracy.

  • Meets established deadlines and posts work for approval on Workfront (or similar project management system).

  • Other duties as assigned or as proactively identified.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Required: High school diploma or GED

  • Required: Associate's degree, or vocational or technical school degree - Field of study: Advertising, Communication Design or Visual Arts

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree - Field of study: Advertising, Communication Design or Visual Arts

  • Less than 12 months related experience required
