In this field, you may create a plan to ensure each department has the necessary personnel, determine whether or not the company needs to train people before they can provide the needed services, and support the overall development of the business. Workforce managers frequently collect and use data to understand employee efficiency and how many personnel are required to ensure the company continues functioning. Most workforce management roles also determine how many extra employees the company needs. It is not acceptable for the entire business to shut down because one person is out sick, so having a backup or plan for problems with every position in the company is part of this job.

The Opportunity

TC Energy's mission of delivering sustainable energy solutions across North America is enabled through a workforce that is agile and aligned to business priorities. We are seeking a Workforce Planning Advisor to join our team and help advance workforce planning capabilities across the organization.

In this role, you will partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, and business leaders to develop a deeper understanding of workforce trends, capabilities, and risks. You will play a key role in strengthening how workforce planning supports business decision-making today, while helping evolve toward a more strategic, insight-driven approach over time.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is motivated to help build and mature workforce planning capability in a practical, business-connected way.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the Workforce Planning team to support and advance workforce planning capability across the organization
  • Work closely across HR, Finance, and the business to connect workforce plans with business priorities and financial outcomes
  • Develop insights on workforce composition, trends, and risks (capacity, skills, talent availability)
  • Translate business priorities into actionable workforce insights and recommendations that inform leadership decisions
  • Identify and assess critical roles and talent segments, helping to highlight workforce risks and dependencies
  • Monitor workforce metrics and trends, providing insight that inform leadership discussions and decision-making
  • Advance workforce planning toward a more strategic, forward-looking, and scenario-informed capability
  • Lead workforce planning technology definition and enhancement efforts, including requirements for tools, reporting, and analytics
  • Contribute to the continued development of workforce planning frameworks, standards, and best practices
  • Stay current on industry trends and leading practices to strengthen workforce planning capability

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in HR or related disciplines
  • Experience with workforce data, reporting, and planning processes
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into insights
  • Strong communication and stakeholder partnership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience standing up or maturing workforce planning programs
  • Experience supporting workforce planning tools or analytics initiatives
  • Understanding of business operations and workforce implications
  • Project and change management experience

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (estimated up to 10% of work schedule)

To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid
