BHS Workforce is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in New York City, New York.

Job Description & Requirements

Requirements:

  • Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • 1+ years of general OR experience required
  • Ability to function in both circulating and/or scrub roles across a variety of surgical specialties

Duties:

  • Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support during a variety of general surgical procedures (general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment for surgical cases
  • Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
  • Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
  • Monitor patient status and safety throughout surgical procedures
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation, ensuring availability and proper function
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team to ensure smooth case flow
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-op handoff to PACU staff
  • Accurately document intraoperative care, including counts, medications, and patient status, in the EMR
