Position Brand Description:
This position is in the Equipment Development Group (EDG), which is part of the Engineering Tech Center (ETC). The mission of EDG is to provide innovative automated machine and mechanical equipment solutions in support of the strategies of our customers across the global Eli Lilly research, development, and manufacturing groups. We integrate new and established technologies both internally and by facilitating external suppliers to create world-class solutions for a wide variety of technical challenges.
The EDG Project Manager is part of the EDG project management team, administering all aspects of project delivery, resource scheduling, and vendor scheduling. The project manager takes the lead position of each dedicated project team and interacts with the customer to determine requirements, timeline, and budget. The project manager communicates with skill group members and EDG management throughout the project planning and delivery process to ensure the availability and proper allocation of personnel and participates in the project prioritization process. The project manager also communicates with external EDG/Lilly vendors to ensure appropriate capacity and staffing levels exist.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Initiate projects and gather customer/user requirements.
  • Manage multiple capital equipment projects at any given time, including cost estimating and budget control for custom machine builds.
  • Investigate and plan resource availability and leveling.
  • Leverage external vendors to deliver project objectives.
  • Conduct periodic vendor audits.
  • Lead organizational continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate and/or lead organizational safety initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional and multi-site project teams to deliver desired project outcomes.

Basic Requirements:
  • B.S. in Engineering or related-science field
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in equipment design project management, tracking and scheduling, and vendor/contract management
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1

Additional Preferences:
  • Understanding of automated manufacturing equipment design, fabrication, debugging, and site integration.
  • Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office products with a focus on MS Project.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exposure to machine design, assembly, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Inventor 3-D modeling and AutoCAD electrical software.
  • PMP certification or equivalent formal project management training.
  • Experience coordinating with controls and automation engineering teams (PLC/HMI) during machine design, build, and integration.
  • Working knowledge of equipment qualification and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

  • ~15% travel required, with some international travel.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$66,000 - $171,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
