What is the difference between Workflow Optimization vs Business Analyst?

AspectWorkflow OptimizationBusiness Analyst
Required CredentialsTypically certifications in process improvement, Lean, Six SigmaOften requires a degree in business, finance, or related fields; certifications like CBAP are common
Work EnvironmentPrimarily in operations, manufacturing, or service industries focusing on process improvementIn office settings across various industries, analyzing business needs and solutions
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by companies aiming to streamline processes and increase efficiencyEmployed by organizations to analyze and improve business systems and workflows

Workflow Optimization specialists focus on analyzing and improving existing processes to enhance efficiency, often using specific methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma. Business Analysts, on the other hand, evaluate business needs, gather requirements, and recommend solutions, which may include process improvements but also encompass broader system and strategy analysis. While both roles aim to improve organizational performance, Workflow Optimization is more specialized in process enhancement, whereas Business Analysts have a wider scope including system and project analysis.

What is workflow optimization?

Workflow optimization is the process of analyzing and improving business processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity. It often involves mapping workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing tools or techniques such as automation or lean principles to streamline operations. Professionals in this field may use project management software and require strong analytical skills.

Job description

Job Title: Lead RIS & Clinical Workflow Implementation Consultant โ€“ RamSoft OmegaAI & Alpha Nodus Gravity (120-Day 1099 Contract)

Company: Corazon Imaging

Location: Hybrid (Mix of Remote & On-Site) A balanced mix (e.g., 3 days on-site, 2 days remote, or traveling on-site for key project milestones). (US-Based)

Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (Deliverable-Based, Fixed-Fee)

Duration: 120 Days

About Corazon Imaging

Corazon Imaging is an innovative outpatient healthcare organization dedicated to transforming cardiac care. We utilize advanced, non-invasive technologyโ€”including Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) and Fractional Flow Reserve Computed Tomography (FFR-CT)โ€”to proactively diagnose heart disease. To support our clinical excellence, we are optimizing our outpatient radiology operations to ensure a frictionless patient, administrative, and provider experience.

Engagement Overview

Corazon Imaging is seeking an elite, highly specialized RIS Implementation Consultant with extensive outpatient radiology experience for a strategic 120-day, milestone-based 1099 engagement. The primary objective is to lead the operational implementation, configuration, and workflow optimization of our current cloud-native imaging EMR/RIS platform, RamSoft OmegaAIยฎ, alongside our AI-driven workflow automation hub, Alpha Nodus Gravity AI.

Please note: This is an operational and clinical implementation role, not a backend software engineering or API coding position.

Rather than physical API/HL7 coding (which is managed by the vendor IT teams), this role is deeply focused on clinical operations and system configuration. The successful contractor will leverage substantial experience in outpatient imaging environments to act as the primary operational bridge. You will configure OmegaAIโ€™s True Universal Worklist and orchestrate the operational rollout of Alpha Nodusโ€™ AI tools (specifically Gravity Auth, Gravity Booking, Gravity Intake, and Gravity Analytics). Ultimately, you will design, test, and deploy a fully automated "Script-to-Scan" workflow that eliminates manual administrative friction and drives high user adoption among our front desk, technologists, and interpreting physicians.

Phased Milestones & Required Deliverables (120-Day Timeline)

This engagement is strictly deliverable-based and structured around four 30-day phases. Progress and invoicing are directly tied to the formal sign-off of the following operational milestones by Corazon leadership:

Phase 1: Operational Discovery, Workflow Design & Baseline RIS Optimization (Days 1โ€“30)

Focus: Assess Corazon's current outpatient imaging operations, baseline the OmegaAI environment, and design the optimized future-state clinical and administrative workflows.

Required Deliverables:

OmegaAI Baseline Configuration Plan: Audit and configuration strategy for OmegaAIโ€™s True Universal Worklist, user roles, routing rules, and display protocols to maximize radiologist efficiency.

Workflow Gap Analysis & Design Map: Comprehensive mapping of current vs. future-state outpatient workflows (scheduling, intake, prior authorizations, imaging, reading), detailing exactly how the tools will eliminate manual tasks.

Implementation Project Charter: Finalized 90-day execution schedule outlining vendor coordination, system configuration, clinical training, and deployment.

Phase 2: System Configuration & Vendor Orchestration (Days 31โ€“60)

Focus: Coordinate with Corazon, RamSoft, and Alpha Nodus vendor teams to configure system rules, operational matrices, and workflow triggers.

Required Deliverables:

Gravity Auth & Booking Configuration Oversight: Successful operational setup of automated prior authorizations, self-scheduling matrices, and automated intake forms, ensuring seamless status updates within OmegaAI's scheduling logic.

End-to-End "Script-to-Scan" Build: Finalized system configuration bridging front-office Gravity AI automation with technologist and radiologist RIS workflows.

Gravity Analytics Setup: Configuration of custom dashboards to track outpatient operational KPIs (turnaround times, auth approval rates, scanner utilization).

Phase 3: Clinical Testing, UAT & Training Preparation (Days 61โ€“90)

Focus: Rigorously test the configured workflows in a sandbox environment and ensure operational readiness for clinical and administrative staff.

Required Deliverables:

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Sign-Off: Facilitated, scenario-based UAT with Corazon front desk staff, technologists, and radiologists, confirming the end-to-end operational workflow is seamless and resulting in formal sign-off.

Defect & Remediation Log: Coordination with vendor IT teams to resolve 100% of P1 (Critical) and P2 (High) workflow blockers or data-sync issues prior to Go-Live.

Training Materials Development: Creation of role-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quick-reference Runbooks for all end-users.

Phase 4: Go-Live, Staff Training & Project Handoff (Days 91โ€“120)

Focus: Train the staff, deploy the optimized workflow into production, provide hypercare support, and officially close out the project.

Required Deliverables:

End-User Training Execution: Completed training sessions for clinical and administrative teams resulting in demonstrable workflow competency.

Production Go-Live: Successful rollout of the optimized OmegaAI and Gravity AI workflows with minimal operational disruption.

Post-Live Hypercare Log: 30-day monitoring and support report, identifying and resolving user friction points to ensure full clinical adoption.

Project Closure Sign-Off: Final handoff of all documentation and operational administrative controls to Corazon stakeholders.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

To deem this engagement successfully executed, the final implementation must demonstrate:

1. Workflow Efficiency: A verifiable reduction in front-desk manual data entry and prior authorization turnaround times via the successful deployment of Gravity Auth and Intake.

2. Clinical Adoption: 100% of targeted staff successfully trained and actively utilizing the new workflows, with zero reliance on legacy manual workarounds.

3. Worklist Fluidity: Measurable improvement in clinical throughput and workflow satisfaction due to the optimized configuration of the OmegaAI True Universal Worklist.

4. Schedule Adherence: 100% on-time delivery of the 120-day phased deliverable timeline.

Qualifications

Outpatient Radiology Expertise (Required): Substantial, practical experience within high-throughput outpatient imaging centers or radiology operations. Deep understanding of front-desk scheduling, prior authorization logistics, modality workflows, and radiologist reading requirements.

System Implementation Experience: 3+ years of experience leading RIS/PACS implementations, clinical change management, and end-user training.

Vendor Familiarity (preferred; not required): Proven, handsโ€‘on administrative and configuration experience with RamSoft OmegaAI (Cloudโ€‘Native RIS/PACS, True Universal Worklist) and the Alpha Nodus Gravity Platform (Booking, Auth, Intake, Analytics).

Vendor Orchestration: Exceptional ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements, manage thirdโ€‘party vendor IT teams, and hold technical teams accountable to operational timelines.

Attributes: Highly organized, operationally focused, excellent communicator, and capable of translating complex software capabilities into practical, daily clinical workflows.

Governance, Testing & Security Standards

Governance: The Consultant will lead biโ€‘weekly steering committee updates with Corazonโ€™s operational leadership. All workflow deviations or scope modifications must pass through a formal Change Control process.

Testing Protocol: Consultant will own the Master UAT Plan, ensuring that actual users validate realโ€‘world clinical scenarios in a sandbox environment prior to Phase 4.

Security & Compliance: Consultant must adhere to strict zeroโ€‘trust cybersecurity standards, ensuring all configured user roles and workflows maintain full compliance with HIPAA and HITECH guidelines. Minimum necessary PHI access rules must be enforced across all systems.

Compensation Structure & 1099 Contractor Terms

Classification: This is strictly an Independent Contractor (1099) agreement. You will not be considered a Wโ€‘2 employee of Corazon Imaging. No employee benefits (health insurance, PTO, 401k, etc.) are provided.

Compensation: Fixedโ€‘fee, deliverableโ€‘based payment structure.

Milestone Payments: Compensation is disbursed on Netโ€‘15 or Netโ€‘30 terms at the end of each 30โ€‘day phase (e.g., 20% Phase 1 / 30% Phase 2 / 30% Phase 3 / 20% Phase 4), strictly contingent upon formal review, acceptance, and operational signโ€‘off of that phase's deliverables by Corazon leadership.

Equipment & Taxes: The Contractor must provide their own secure workstation and tools (BYOD). The Contractor is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local selfโ€‘employment taxes.

Agreements: Engagement is contingent upon the execution of a Master Services Agreement (MSA), Statement of Work (SOW), Nonโ€‘Disclosure Agreement (NDA), HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA).
