Job description

The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard area, including production coordination, inventory management, material handling, equipment operation and utilization, and workforce supervision. This role will ensure the precast products are stored and shipped safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, and project schedules.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all yard activities.
  • Ensure daily production and delivery schedules are achieved.
  • Monitor yard operations to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate closely with production, dispatch, quality control, and project management teams.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all OSHA, company, and industry guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental and operational regulations/requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of finished products, raw materials, and supplies.
  • Optimize yard layout and storage practices to improve efficiency and product access.
  • Supervise, train, and coach yard personnel while establishing performance expectations and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy on all loaded products
  • Oversee the operations and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, loaders, trailers, and other yard equipment, including ensuring all required inspections and preventative maintenance is completed when scheduled.
  • Continuously improve knowledge and skills through training and/or education to stay current on industry trends/best practices.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • High diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Operations Management, or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, precast concrete, construction materials, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Three or more years’ supervisory or management experience.
  • Previous experience as an equipment operator required.
  • Proven ability to lead and maintain effective organization and workflow optimization efforts in a largescale manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Able to work in varying environments including but not limited to extensive walking, lifting, and standing.
  • Selfmotivated to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and timemanagement skills, with demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other operational and business management software.
  • Working conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Industrial plant setting with exposure to concrete, dust, and machinery.
  • Candidates should be able to work in various environments.
  • Standing for long periods of time with frequent movement through the plant.
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, or machinery, as applicable for the work being performed.
  • Use of PPE (i.e. gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and/or ear protection).
  • Ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis, if required.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks, as appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work various work shifts and overtime, as required to meet project deadlines.
