Job description

Advance Consulting Group is a Tampa-based engineering and consulting firm dedicated to delivering practical, client-focused solutions across commercial and light-industrial projects. The team emphasizes collaborative design, technical excellence, and continuous improvement, making it an engaging place for engineers who value mentorship, hands-on project work, and a culture of innovation.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Designer to join our Tampa office and support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design for commercial and municipal projects across Florida. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, technically strong designer who produces construction documents, coordinates with architects and contractors, and uses Revit/BIM workflows to deliver accurate, buildable designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, power, and plumbing system designs from schematic through construction documentation.
  • Produce construction drawings, equipment schedules, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and specifications using Revit, AutoCAD, and associated analysis tools.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with architectural, structural, and civil disciplines to resolve clashes and optimize routing in BIM models.
  • Perform load calculations, energy modeling support, and equipment selections consistent with Florida codes and project requirements.
  • Support project managers by preparing cost-effective design alternatives, revising drawings per client feedback, and responding to RFIs during construction.
  • Participate in site visits and construction administration as needed to ensure design intent is maintained and installed systems meet performance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical training.
  • 3+ years of professional experience designing MEP systems for commercial or municipal buildings; Florida project experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD; familiarity with Navisworks, SKM, Trane Trace or similar analysis tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC system types, electrical distribution, lighting design, plumbing systems, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables on project schedules.
  • Effective communicator who collaborates well with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Bring

You are methodical and quality-focused, enjoy solving technical challenges, and take pride in producing clear, coordinated MEP construction documents. You thrive in collaborative teams, adapt to changing project needs, and are motivated by delivering tangible results on real-world building projects in the Tampa Bay area.

Benefits And Culture

Advance Consulting Group offers a professional work environment that supports career growth through mentorship, hands-on project exposure, and opportunities to expand technical skills in Revit/BIM and systems analysis. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on projects that range from tenant improvements to municipal facilities throughout Florida.
